QuidelOrtho President and CEO to Chair AdvaMedDx Board

There’s a new leader in charge of the AdvaMedDx Division Board of Directors.

AdvaMed, the Medtech Association, today identified Brian Blaser, president and CEO of QuidelOrtho, as the next AdvaMedDx Division Board chair, succeeding QIAGEN CEO Thierry Bernard.  AdvaMedDx represents more than 70 manufacturers of in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) tests critical to patient care. 

“Diagnostic tests are essential to timely diagnoses and appropriate patient care,” AdvaMed President/CEO Scott Whitaker said. “The AdvaMedDx division drives the advocacy necessary to ensure patients have full access to the range of tests available to diagnose illness quickly and precisely and inform the right course of treatment. Congratulations and thank you to Brian for his willingness to lead AdvaMed’s work in this vital field, and thank you to Thierry for his exemplary service over an extended term as AdvaMedDx board chair.”   

Blaser has more than 25 years of senior leadership experience in the in-vitro diagnostics industry. At QuidelOrtho, he leads a global organization that is striving to advance the power of diagnostics. Before joining QuidelOrtho, Blaser spent 15 years at Abbott Laboratories, where he supervised the company’s diagnostics business, spanning core laboratory, point-of-care, rapid and molecular diagnostics. He also served in key leadership roles across operations, finance, and engineering at various large healthcare and technology companies, including Johnson & Johnson, Eastman Kodak, and General Motors.

Blaser currently is a Board of Trustees member at the University of Dayton and chairs the University of Dayton School of Engineering Advisory Council. Blaser earned an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from the University of Dayton.

Blaser will lead the AdvaMedDx division board at a pivotal time for the diagnostics industry, as advances in molecular testing, artificial intelligence, and point-of-care technologies continue to transform how diseases are detected and monitored.

Blaser will serve a two-year term beginning this month.
